ZFMK Creative was selected by Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership (LNRP) to design their 2023-2024 Impact Report—a comprehensive six-page document that showcases the organization’s conservation efforts, partnerships, and financial transparency. Our goal was to create a visually compelling, functional, and engaging report that aligns seamlessly with LNRP’s brand while making complex information accessible to their stakeholders.

For this project, ZFMK Creative provided a custom graphic design package tailored to LNRP’s needs, ensuring the final product was both visually compelling and functionally effective. The report adhered closely to LNRP’s 2023 brand style guide, implemented by Vegabond Creative Studio, integrating the organization’s logos, colors, and fonts in a cohesive and intuitive design. We carefully selected images from those provided by LNRP to maximize impact and designed key infographics, including the Wisconsin service area map (Pages 1-2) and the financial breakdown (Page 6). Given the extensive data in the impact section (Pages 4-5), we structured the layout to balance dense information with strong visual elements. The final report was designed as an interactive PDF with QR codes and hyperlinks, making it easy for digital readers to engage with additional resources.

Process & Collaboration

Our collaboration with LNRP’s communications team was streamlined and highly organized. The project began with a review of LNRP’s outlined work order and report structure, followed by an internal estimate to define scope and hours for profitability. Anna Ostermeier, Director of Communications, provided a Google Drive folder containing all necessary content, including text copy, image selections, and a structured vision document detailing section titles, organization, and key messaging.

Using this foundation, ZFMK Creative developed the first proof, incorporating LNRP’s branding, images, and custom-designed infographics. After the initial draft, we worked closely with Anna and the team, integrating feedback and making refinements. Minor final tweaks, such as adding QR codes and hyperlinks, were implemented before submitting the final version. One key challenge was handling last-minute financial updates, which required swift revisions to the financial infographic on Page 6, ensuring accuracy just before the deadline.

Challenges & Solutions

One of the primary challenges was consolidating an extensive amount of impact data into a single two-page spread (Pages 4-5) while maintaining visual clarity and narrative flow. Our initial concern was that it might require an additional page, but through strategic layout adjustments, we successfully kept it within one spread without sacrificing readability. Additionally, last-minute financial data updates required swift modifications to the infographic on Page 6, which we efficiently incorporated to meet the deadline.

Final Deliverable & Impact

  • Six-page digital report designed for optimal viewing as both spreads and single pages.

  • Print-friendly layout for distribution to partner groups, supporters, and potential funders.

  • Interactive elements (QR codes & hyperlinks) to drive online engagement.

  • Positive reception from LNRP, including praise from Executive Director Mike Mullen, who noted this as one of their strongest impact reports to date.


WHAT IS NEXT?

The report was released via LNRP’s website, email newsletter, and a targeted postcard mailing campaign in early 2024. It can be accessed in LNRP’s Resources section and serves as a critical tool in their outreach, fundraising, and partnership-building efforts.
