Zachary Kunstman to Lead UBUNTU ASAP as Next Chief Executive Officer

Zachary Kunstman, lead designer of ZFMK Creative, is set to become CEO of Ubuntu ASAP, bringing his passion for shaping the future of architecture education. As Ubuntu ASAP gears up for an active 2024, Zachary aims to secure financing and build a dedicated team to empower aspiring architects globally. This leadership transition ensures a strategic focus on impactful initiatives while maintaining ZFMK Creative's commitments to current and new clients.

We're thrilled to share the exciting news that Zachary Kunstman, the visionary lead designer and owner of ZFMK Creative, is stepping into a pivotal role as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ubuntu Architecture Summer Abroad Program (Ubuntu ASAP). Since its establishment in 2020, Ubuntu ASAP has been tirelessly working to empower families facing economic and social challenges, providing transformative international experiences for aspiring architects.¹

Zachary, driven by his passion for shaping the future of architecture education and fostering global collaboration, expresses his enthusiasm for the role of CEO at Ubuntu ASAP. He's dedicated to leading the non-profit organization in empowering aspiring architects with life-changing international experiences.

With a passion for shaping the future of architecture education and fostering global collaboration, it is exciting to take over for Wandile Mthiyane as the CEO of Ubuntu ASAP. It is my intention to lead a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering aspiring architects with transformative international experiences.”² – Zachary Kunstman

Importantly, this change in leadership won't alter ZFMK Creative's priorities or its ability to collaborate effectively with current and new clients. The commitment to delivering exceptional design solutions remains unwavering. In his new role, Zachary's initial focus will be on securing financing to support his position and bring on 2-3 part-time team members, strengthening Ubuntu ASAP's operational capabilities and enhancing its impact on the global architecture education landscape.

While Zachary takes the helm, Ubuntu ASAP's founder, Wandile Mthiyane, will continue to be involved in the organization, serving on the board. This ensures a smooth transition, maintaining the invaluable insights that Wandile brings to the initiative. Reflecting on the challenges of the past two years, Ubuntu ASAP acknowledges the impact of the global pandemic. In response, the team took a brief pause to regroup, plan meticulously, and return with renewed vigor in 2024. This temporary setback is a strategic move to better serve future students, supporters, and families.

Recognizing the need for change, Ubuntu ASAP plans to implement modifications to its existing model. However, the overarching goal of making a lasting impact on families affected by apartheid remains steadfast. The organization is committed to adapting its strategies to ensure a more resilient and effective approach. Looking ahead to 2024, Ubuntu ASAP is gearing up to be more active, actively seeking team members who share the commitment to its vision. Expect updates, news, and inspiring content, with significant developments anticipated in the second quarter of the year.³

In conclusion, with Zachary Kunstman as CEO, the future of Ubuntu ASAP looks promising. With a passionate leader and a dedicated team, the organization is poised to overcome challenges, adapt to changing landscapes, and continue making a positive impact in the field of architecture education. Stay tuned for updates as Ubuntu ASAP gears up for an exciting new chapter.
