Author, Gustav Magnusson presenting his book project to a room of designers and architects in Stockholm, Sweden.

The upcoming book project, "Keynote Conversations" by Gustav Magnusson, aims to engage with one hundred inspiring urban thinkers from around the world, featuring each interview on a single spread page. The result is a unique urban planning Pecha Kucha festival captured within the pages of a book. The book promises to offer a global perspective on urban planning and invites readers to join the author on a journey to bring this diverse collection of voices to print.

The significance of the book lies in the fact that it goes beyond being a platform for the ideas of a single creator. Instead, it serves as a window into the wide-ranging thoughts of 100 diverse urban thinkers. These insights, accumulated over thousands of hours, are presented as a call to attention for those dedicated to shaping a brighter future for urban landscapes and their inhabitants. The book emphasizes the importance of listening, inclusivity, and collective envisioning to create a dynamic dialogue about the ecosystem where urban life may unfold.

The book is comprised of seven sections as reflected in Gustav’s Kickstarter campaign website text shown below.*

  1. Challenges : Unpacking our current urban dilemmas.

  2. Attitude : Cultivating a mindset for contextual solutions.

  3. Urgency: The art of addressing pressing urban challenges.

  4. Vision: Crafting inspiring urban futures.

  5. Action: Implementing transformative change.

  6. Imagine!: Envisioning the diverse horizons of our human habitats.

  7. Concluding insights: Experts thoughts on the 100 Interviews.*

It was remarkable to hear some of the reasons this publication came to light, listen to the author’s passionate topics and discoveries, and hear some conclusions that Gustav arrived at after one-hundred interviews. If you enjoy a well-put-together publication and are interested in the built environment, urban scale, or cities of the future I highly recommend reading this compilation!

Zachary Kunstman

My name is Zachary Kunstman, and I'm an advocate of multi-cycle, socially and environmentally sustainable, and human-centered built environments. My background in architecture has taught me that our surroundings impact the people within greatly, and healthy buildings help occupants reach their potential and goals more easily. During the pandemic, I realized that much of the population does not have the luxury of living in places that allow them to thrive fully, and I wanted to change that. With a pivot into the real estate development sector, I hope to work for a property development company that provides mixed-use properties accessible to multi-socioeconomic backgrounds and unites communities together. When all members of a society feel valued, have the ability to thrive, and live amid healthy spaces, we all benefit and may advance together.
